This was the third year the Safaricam sponsored run was being held in the forest.The run was well attended with many people of all aspects of life. the young and the old, had turned up for the event. Some had travelled overnight form the Rift Valley having heard of the event on the media.Individuals paid 200 shillings to race and corporations paid more! the money is to go to help pay for the conservation of Ngong Forest. The run was categorised in two groups because their are people who cant run long distances. There were 5 and 10 km runs. Famous sportsmen and sports women attended some to run and some to watch and cheer their fellow sportsmen. World record holder Paul Tergat was there to run!

The run was flagged off at 9.30 am and the first group to start were 5km women and men and they were followed shortly after by the 10 km women and men. The run took place inside the forest where indigenous trees provided not only a beautiful background but also welcome shade and fresh air. The route passed under the nest of the huge African Crowned eagle.

The runs were won by the people from the rift valley, who received 8000 shillings each. Other runners won prizes if they finished in the top ten of their race. After a few words from the guests of honour who urged that we conserve the forest to help protect our air and water in Nairobi, the event was closed.
